Terms
Terms of use
These terms set the ground rules for using calorieplate.com and its nutrition-reference tools. They are written to preserve both useful access and honest limits.
Effective July 14, 2026
1
Agreement and scope
These Terms of Use apply to calorieplate.com, its public pages, search, nutrition profiles, and Make Your Own calculator, together called “CaloriePlate.” CaloriePlate is an independent project built and maintained by Bineyam Tsegaye.
By accessing or using CaloriePlate, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site. These terms do not remove rights that cannot lawfully be waived in your jurisdiction.
2
A nutrition reference, not professional care
CaloriePlate provides general educational and informational nutrition reference data. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, dietary prescriptions, emergency services, or a clinician-patient relationship.
Nutrition values describe the selected source record, food form, preparation state, and gram basis. Actual foods vary by cultivar, growing conditions, formulation, fortification, preparation, storage, sampling, and laboratory method. A generic profile may not match a branded product, restaurant item, recipe, or individual serving.
Use the exact product label and appropriately qualified professional guidance for allergies, ingredient safety, medication interactions, medical nutrition therapy, pregnancy, feeding children, or decisions where small differences matter. See the full nutrition limitations.
3
Permitted use
You may use the public site for lawful personal, educational, journalistic, and informational purposes. You may link to public pages and quote limited CaloriePlate-written text with clear attribution, subject to applicable law.
You are responsible for the food forms, preparation states, gram weights, serving counts, and other inputs you select. Calculator results are arithmetic outputs from those choices, not personalized recommendations.
4
Uses that are not permitted
- Interfering with, overloading, probing, or bypassing site security.
- Using automated requests in a way that degrades service for others.
- Introducing malicious code or attempting unauthorized access.
- Misrepresenting CaloriePlate data, branding, or source attribution.
- Claiming that CaloriePlate or a cited source endorses you or your product.
- Using the site in violation of law or another person's rights.
CaloriePlate may restrict access reasonably believed to threaten the site, its providers, or other users. This does not restrict lawful use of source material you obtain independently.
5
Site material and source rights
CaloriePlate's original branding, site design, written explanations, organization, and software are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Permission is not granted to imply affiliation, copy the branding, or republish the site as your own.
Underlying nutrition facts, government records, publications, product labels, and images may be public domain or owned and licensed by third parties. They remain subject to their original rights, licenses, attribution requirements, and terms. These terms do not claim ownership over public-domain facts or take away rights you have in third-party material.
Food pages identify contributing nutrition records. Photograph creator, license, and source details are listed in image credits.
6
Sources, corrections, and changes
CaloriePlate aims to preserve the source and derivation status behind each published value, but sources can contain errors, links can change, and better evidence can emerge. Source-backed does not mean that every value was independently tested by CaloriePlate.
Possible errors can be submitted through the Corrections Policy. CaloriePlate may correct data, clarify wording, update sources, add or remove features, or discontinue content. A fixed update schedule or response time is not promised.
7
Third-party services and links
CaloriePlate relies on service providers such as Vercel and, when configured, Google Analytics. It also links to independent datasets, publications, agencies, licenses, and creator pages. Third parties have their own terms and privacy practices, and CaloriePlate does not control their availability, security, content, or later changes.
A citation or link identifies evidence or attribution. It does not imply endorsement by CaloriePlate of every statement on that site, or endorsement of CaloriePlate by the source.
8
Availability and warranties
CaloriePlate is provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, no express or implied warranty is made that the site will always be available, error-free, secure, complete, current, fit for a particular purpose, or identical to a particular food sample.
Nothing here limits a warranty or consumer right that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
9
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CaloriePlate and its maintainer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the site, including decisions based on an incorrect food match, serving input, source record, or third-party link.
You remain responsible for verifying information appropriate to your situation. This limitation does not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10
Term changes and severability
- Changes
- Revised terms will be posted at this canonical URL with a new effective date. Continued use after the revised date means the new terms apply.
- Severability
- If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue.
- No waiver
- A delay in enforcing a provision does not waive the right to enforce it later.
